The community was saddened Wednesday when it learned that J.P. Frisbie, well-known citizen, was claimed by death about four o'clock that morning at his home in Pleasanton. He had been ill for several months and in a serious condition the last week.

James P. Frisbie was born in McDonough County, Illinois, January 30, 1861. He moved with his parents to Clinton County near Lathrop, Missouri in 1869 and while living there became a member of the Methodist church. His father passed away December 24, 1882, and in 1886 he and his mother came to Trading Post where he worked as an engineer for A.W. Hall Flour and Lumber Mills and also serving as trustee of Valley township.

On October 4, 1896 he was united in marriage to Jessie Shattuck and to this union four sons were born: Glenn of Merriam, Kansas; Wilbur of Kansas City, Kansas; Arthur of Mound City and Howard of Moberly, Missouri. He leaves besides his wife, sons and their families one brother, William, 88 years old, and a sister, Mrs. S.D. Phillips.

He was county clerk of Linn county from 1917 to 1925 retiring then to his farm, and moving to Pleasanton in 1942.

Funeral services are being held this afternoon from the Pleasanton Methodist church at three o'clock. The Rev. W.L. Shuler will officiate at the rites assisted by music from a male quartet. Burial will be in the Trading Post cemetery.
