8 September 1982
Funeral Card of AMELIA NUSS
Amelia Nuss, daughter of Henry and Marie (Dietz) Karst, was born July 23, 1901, in Barton County, Kansas. Her death occurred on September 8, 1982, in the Russell City Hospital after suffering a stroke a few days earlier. Her age was 81 years, 1 month and 15 days.

Amelia lived her early life on the family farm in Barton County, received her basic education in the rural school near home and on March 24, 1921, was united in marriage to Edward Nuss at Milberger, Kansas. This union was blessed with five children.

Amelia lived most of her married life as a farming housewife, mother and homemaker on the family farm near Milberger. In August of 1959 she and Edward moved to Russell to make their home and lived on East First Street since that time. She occupied her time with the many and varied activities of a typical farming mother.

She was a member of the United Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Milberger and was regular in attendance and participated in the many church activities. She suffered her stroke on Sunday morning while leaving church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Delmar, who died at nine years of age; three sisters, Dolly Lang, Bertha Wagner and Hannah Popp; also one half brother, Sigmund Karst.

Survivors are her husband, Edward of the home; sons, Leland, Earlin and Eugene, all of rural Russell, and a daughter, Mrs. Bernard (Ruth) Mai of Russell. Other survivors are two half-brothers, Herman Karst of Galatia and Henry A. Karst of Hutchinson; a sister, Mrs. Chris (Marie) Kramer of Hoisington; two step-sisters, Mollie Nuss of Russell and Katie Radke of Wichita; also five grandchildren and one step-grandchild; three great grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren; several other relatives and a host of friends.
(The Bulletin for the Church Funeral Service is in my files. It's only genealogical information if that she was Baptized on 25 Aug 1901 and confirmed on 6 April 1917.)
