HEGWER posted by Bruce Hegwer on Tuesday, June 17, 1997

I am looking for any information on the HEGWER family. I believe they settled in Chase County or Barber County. Supposedly they are listed in Kansas 1850 Census data. I was told that Hymer, Kansas was originally to be named Hegwer but that a clerk made a mistake. Any information on the HEGWER family would be greatly appreciated.

SANDBOTHE posted by Connie Reichart on Thursday, August 7, 1997

Barber County - Kiowa - My great-grandmother, Katherine Schramm SANDBOTHE, died in Kiowa, KS. I think she was probably buried in a paupers' grave. My great-grandfather then took the children, 9 years down to 1 month old back to Missouri to live with relatives. they were each placed in a separate home. My grandmother was the oldest. She said that they lived right on the Kansas -Oklahoma border. This was in Sep 1886. Family was Catholic. I am assuming the baby was baptized some place there. Is there any place I can find more information
