Jan. 28, 1908 - C. A. Robinson has bought the interest of L. Frantz in the Robinson & Frantz Hardware store in Strong City and is now the sole owner.

Born to Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Pringle of Elk, a boy.

Jan. 31 - James Short committed suicide in his home in Emporia. Mr. Short was formerly a resident of Chase County having lived at Saffordville where he was section foreman on the Santa Fe tracks.

Feb. 4 - Groundhog day will be a legal holiday in Kansas this year. The mercury stood six degrees below zero on the 1st day of Feb.

Feb. 7 Mrs. T. E. Garth a resident of this county for almost 38 years died at her home in Saffordville.

Feb. 11 - S. R. Cowley of Cedar Point expects to move to Reno county about the 1st. of March.

Feb. 14 - Joseph Foxworthy traps a wild bob-cat on Norton creek.

Born to Mr. & Mrs. Paul Cartter, a son.

Feb. 21 - Ina Ethel Ewert and Henry Slabaugh are married, also Frank Crook and Pearl Chambless both of Saffordville.

Feb. 25 - The election of Rev. R. A. McKinley as pastor of the Cottonwood Falls Presbyterian church is announced and he will begin as pastor on March 1st.

Feb. 28 - Thomas Jefferson Browning died at his home south of Cottonwood Falls. He was a veteran of the Civil War.

May Wilcox and Everett Waddell were married at the Falls and will make this city their home.

March 3 - Joe McDowell has rented the Thomas Butler building on the east side of Broadway and will open up his poultry and produce business. A partnership is formed with George Long and the new firm will be named Long and McDowell.

Mar. 6 - E. J. Wilcox has purchased one half interest in the Coe Bros. Grocery and Meat Market.

T. J. Woolwine has purchased the Will Dietrich property in the south part of Saffordville.

Mar. 10 - The finishing work on the new depot in the Falls is completed, Agent Siler is happy to be in it.

A girl was born to Val Uhl and his wife of Buck creek.

Mar. 17 - Edna Brandley and Clarence Overstreet of Homestead are married.

Mar. 20 - A banquet, given by the ladies of the Eastern Star, of the Falls was held at the Masonic Hall.

The grocery store of Floyd McMorris of Strong City, on the east side of main street was completely destroyed by fire.

Fred Coe will run an ice wagon in the Falls and Strong City.

Ed Maloney of Strong City has bought a half interest in the Ryan Bros. hotel and restaurant.
