Oct 15 1947- Edgar L. Heath of Cottonwood Falls is badly hurt by a dynamite blast.
Francis LaLoge of Strong City, died at his home. His parents were Mr. & Mrs Claude LaLoge and his birthplace was Cedar Point.
Mr. & Mrs J. M. Riggs hold open house, at their home at Wonsevu, to celebrate their 50 years together as man and wife.
Nov 12 - D. M. “Tad” Smith of Cottonwood Falls, was presented with his 50 year pin at the meeting of Zeredatha Lodge, No. 80 A.F. & A.M. at the Temple in Cottonwood Falls.
Miss Sibyl Tyler and Mr. Donnie Ingalls are united in marriage.
Nov 19 - The community of Cedar Point uncovered a find of historical material when tearing down the old Presbyterian Church to use the cut stone in the new building. Robert Laughridge found the box containing the papers which were placed there in April of 1889.
County mourns death of Capt. Bill Wilson, when the Army Bomber-25 crashed into the side of Mt. Magazine, near Havana, Arkansas.
Strong City lost one of its pioneer women - the passing of Mrs Rose L. Rettiger. Her husband was the former David Rettiger. Two sons survive, Charles D. and Irving J. Rettiger and one daughter, Mrs Esther O’Reilly.
Dec 3 - The entire squad of the first undefeated CC Community High School football team in 18 years were honored guests at a turkey dinner.
Dec 10 - Matfield Green wins 1 - point thriller from Chase County Community High School.
David W. Wood, son of Mr. & Mrs William L. Wood, has passed away.
Depot at Strong City is getting its face lifted with paint on trim of white and green.
Mr. & Mrs Henry Stahl at Homestead celebrate their Silver Wedding anniversary.
Dec 17- Chase County Community High School news - Those typing over 30 speed on one minute test are; Carol Croy, Betty Matti, Libby Waddell, Barbara Beardmore, Ora Lou Drinkwater, Jerry Cross, Don Dick, Betty Hinkle and Alice Hager.
Dec 24 - State asks for bids on K—13 resurfacing.
Dec 31 - Jacob Wambsganss of Elmdale passes away.
Jan 6 1948 - A good improvement has been made at the Chase County Community High School with the opening of the balcony on the east side of the gym.
Jan 14 - One of the fine country homes in Chase County was destroyed when a fire gutted the house on the Jim Bell farm east of Cottonwood Falls. Mr. & Mrs Les Stout farms the place.
Jan 21 - Funeral services are held for Mrs M. W. Woodhull. In 1907 she was married to Dr. Maurice Woodhull, a young physician of the “horse and buggy days.”
Jan 28 - John Pflughoft, has sold his interest in the funeral business, to his partner, L. E. Croy.
Mr. & Mrs Richard Iliff of Strong City are the parents of a seven pound boy, named James Richard, the Second.
