     Mar 29 1961- Cost sharing is available to all farmers to spray pasture brush.


     Apr 5 - Matfield Green native, Frank C. Wagoner, 80, succumbs.


     Mr. & Mrs Don Scott, Cottonwood Falls have a new baby girl, named Debra Ann.


     Apr 12 - Strong Citian, Gerald Roberts, former World Champion Cowby received a placque for being selected as one out of 18 for the Kansas All Sport Hall of Fame.


     William Yeager of the Bazaar eighth grade class is the county spelling champ.


     Apr 19 - Deaths: Lee P. Betty of Strong City & Asa Pendergraft of Cottonwood Falls.


     Oscar F. Altemus has his 94th. birthday observed at his ranch north of Strong City. He has resided their for 63 years.


     May 3 - The best centennial dress was won by Mr. & Mrs Jack Glanville, Jr.


     The Wm. C. & Jane Shaft Chase County stone house on Silver creek, is nearing the century mark.


     May 10 - Mrs Duke Park, Strong City, dies just 15 days after that of her husband.


     Complete layout plans & work starts on lighting project at the baseball and football fields at Swope Park.


     5-17- Eight new units to match the other 12 in modern design is being added to the Flint Hills Motel in Strong City.


     May 24 - Nancy Sue Miller, is the valedictorian and Carol Burton, Salutatorian of the Chase County Community High School.


     The State baseball title, Class B goes to Elmdale.


     May 31 - Elk-Union school district #17 will annex to Cottonwood Falls.


     Improvements are made at Camp Wood for the 1961 camping season.


     Dr. Albert Ernest Titus is selected at “Man of the Week”.


     Jun 7 - Kenneth Carpenter graduates from K-State with highest honors.


     E. C. Roberts is the “Man of the Week”.


     Charles H. Jackson, 90, a Matfield Green native passes away.


     Mrs B.M. Garth a native of Toledo and former Strong City resident passes away.


     Jun 14 - The lighting of the athletic field at Swope Park nears completion.


     Mr. & Mrs Wm. F. Kieferle hold open house in celebration of their Golden Wedding Anniversary and the Fred Riggs hail their silver anniversary.


     Patricia Sue Austin & Donald W. McDade are united in marriage.


     Jun 21 - The Cottonwood Falls Babe Ruth baseball team remains undefeated.


     Jun 28 - Funeral rites for John B. Danford, 90, a retired farmer of Strong City.


     Robert 0. Palmer a life long resident of Strong City dies unexpectedly.
