Date: Thursday, December 19, 2002 07:56 PM

I am looking to connect and exchange information with anyone who knows anything about the BUSH?PHIPPENY family. William Wallace Bush brought his bride Lydia Phippeny to Cloud County Kansas soon after their marriage in 1869. (They were here for the 1870 Territorial Census.) They lived here for almost 10 years until just before 1880 when they moved to Osborne County Kansas. 6 of their children were born in Cloud county and at least 1 son died while they lived here.

Greetings from rainy Portland, Oregon!
I'm working on a very stunted branch of my family tree. Specifically (numbers denote generation of descendancy):
1. [H.H.?] FRAZER (b.Abt 1820/1830 [1822?]-Indiana) sp: unknown FRAZER (b.Abt 1820/1830-VA) 2. W.S. FRAZER (b.1850-Missouri) sp: Christina (b.1852-Switzerland [Missouri?]) 3. Winfield FRAZER (b.10 Jul 1873-Aurora,Cloud,Kansas;d.9 Sep 1954-Tucson,AZ) sp: Linnie WHEELER (b.4 Jul 1876-Missouri;d.22 Jul 1958-Tucson,AZ) 4. Roxie FRAZER (b.15 Jul 1895;d.Jun 1972) 4. Jacob Henry [Jack] FRAZER (b.1 Feb 1898-Aurora,Cloud,Kansas;d.27 Nov 1981-Grants Pass,Josephine,Oregon) sp: Edna AUFRANC (b.23 Mar 1905-Salem,Oregon;d.28 Apr 1999-Grants Pass,Josephine,Oregon) 4. Clara FRAZER (b.9 Oct 1903) 4. Fred FRAZER (b.12 Jul 1909) 3. Christina FRAZER (b.Abt 1875-Kansas) 3. Emma Caroline FRAZER (b.Abt 1878-Kansas) sp: Hosea Gilbert MOYER (b.22 Sep 1876-Aurora,Cloud,Ks;d.4 Sep 1941-Aurora,Cloud,Ks)
On the KSGenWeb I found two Frazer references in a transcription of E.F. Hollibaugh's Biographical History of Cloud County, Kansas. For H.H. Frazer:
"In 1875 H.H. Frazer, came into the settlement and bought the M.M. Turner claim on section thirty-five for fifty dollars. There was a stone hut and ten acres of breaking on the homestead. ... Others of the old settlers dropped out and were replaced by new ones until in 1877 the township was quite well settled. In the spring of this year Joe Osborne purchased one-half section of H.H. Frazer's farm of one hundred and sixty acres, for which he paid one thousand dollars, built a store and opened a small stock of general merchandise. This was the first store in the township."
For W.S. Frazer:
"Mr. Durkee says he finds by counting noses the population of Aurora early in the year 1892 were even two hundred inhabitants, a large majority of whom are a healthy, hearty and happy people. Of the first fifty homestead settlers of Aurora township only about one dozen remain, namely: F.A. Thompson, J.B. Springsted, who was said to be one of the best prairie fire fighters, of the day; Lewis Letourneau, the land Croesus of the township, owning twelve hundred acres; Joe Dugas, once a noted politician; Andy Ming, the second largest land owner; Thomas Clegg, one of the staunchest Democrats in the county; J.H. Springsted, W.S. Frazer, W.M. Durkee, Charlie and Frank Letourneau and Henry Demars."
Any links to any of these people would be greatly appreciated!
Warm Regards,
Shawn Gibbs [Great Grandson of Winfield Frazer]

Seeking information on FLEMING's of Cloud & Coffey Counties, Kansas.
Ella Mellissa FLEMING was born 1874, probably Kansas.
She had Pansy born 1893 Kansas and Oscar Franklin FLEMING born 1896 Concordia, Cloud County, Kansas. Their father was Walter FLEMING.
{Does anyone have a marriage record for Ella FLEMING and Walter FLEMING?}
Ella's parents were Franklin FLEMING and Lydia TRYON. Franklin was born 1843 West Virginia and died 1909. He is buried in Morrison Cemetery (Macyville).
Likely siblings for Ella are Mahala born 1878, George born 1881, and an unnamed infant born abt 1883. All three are buried in Morrison Cemetery.
Any information on FLEMING's is appreciated.

My G Grandfather James Halepaska "Vaclar Chaloupecky" and his family immigrated to the USA in 1875 [from Bohemia] and settled originally in Pawnee County Nebraska. In 1880, he filed his letter of intention also called 1st papers, or intention of immigrating, in Pawnee County. I have a copy of this paper. In 1884, James and most of his family moved to Miltonvalle. I'm looking for his naturalization papers. I believe that he had 5 years to complete them from the time of his original letter which would be 1885. This would place him in Miltonvalle when he filed his final papers. I'm searching for where these papers are stored and the process for getting them searched.

Topic: Henry Heer family of Sibly
From: Jennifer Heer
Date: Friday, October 25, 2002 10:44 AM

Just to let everyone know I recently found a relative that I thought I never would. Found him and his family using the new 1880 census online at Anyway, he is a brother to my gg grandfather. His name is Henry Heer, b. 1828 in Baden to John Christian Heer. (brother is David H. Heer of Galena,IL). His father and siblings settled intially at Galena, IL and Henry was thought to have served in the Mexican War. After 1860 I had no record of him. Until now of course. What I have now is a 1880 census rec. of his household in Sibly, KS. The household is as follows:
Henry Heer, age 52, Baden, Farmer, father & mother's bp.Baden.
Chilara Heer, Wife, age 34, bp. Mecklenburg,Keeping House F and M. bp is Mecklenburg also.
Christian Heer, son, age 9, b. at IL, at school,
William H. Heer, son, age 6, b. at KS, at school.

Place where this census was taken is list as Sibly, Cloud, KS.
We only knew up till now that he was farmer in Cloud Cty, nothing more. If you have any info on this family or are related please contact me. Looking forward to hearing from you.

From: Allan Davis
Date: Tuesday, June 18, 2002 02:28 PM

I recently found an article on Edgar M. Kenyon in the "Biographical History of Cloud County Kansas" stating that he was a native of Canada. He was a brother of my great grandmother, Melissa C. Kenyon Davis, who was also born in Canada, and who married Edwin Davis in Iowa in 1875. All but two of the children of Amos Kenyon and Caroline Blanchard Kenyon were born in Canada. I have not been able to pinpoint the exact place in Canada, although it appears to have been somewhere in Ontario, "near" Toronto.
I'd like to know if there is any other biographical material, or an obituary, that might tell where Edgar M. Kenyon, Melissa Kenyon and other siblings were born.
Thank you,
