Query:

This is an off beat and contemporary request. Two years ago, a colleague of mine
had correspondence with an Evelyn Moore, 1617 Kasold Dr., Lawrence, Kansas, 66047-1709, when all of a sudden
he lost contact. He has been unable to reestablish contact and fears the worse. Our problem is that she had tons(??) of
vital information on the family of Wayne and we would like to retreive this info if possible. If the worst has happened,
then our proding into the lives of family and friends, may not be understood and perhaps considered inappropriate. This
is one reason for making this request on such a forum, that of being understood. This may be a situation that requires a
personal touch, knowing that Evelyn would want to pass on this infomation. At the very least, we would like to know
what has happened to Evelyn. Is there anyone willing to help out?

thanks,
chris

Looking for information on my grandfather,
John Henry Burbank. He said he was born in
Lawrence KS in 1873. His parents were
Harry Burbank and Elizabeth Jane Skaggs.
They divorced (if they were married) when
John Henry was about two years old and he
had no contact with his father until he was
16 or so. His father wrote asking him to
live with him and go to pharmacy school. But, John Henry's maternal grandmother, Emily J. Skaggs (who was raising hime) did not want him to go and he didnt. He regretted it because his father died shortly thereafter.

His father, Harry was reported to be living in Sedgewick AR at the time but we have found no record of that.

Any information would be greatly appreciated as we feel like we have hit a brick wall and do not know where to turn or what to do next.

John Henry Burbank reportedly lived at different times in KS, KY, MO, IL, IN, and AR.

My great-grandparents:
TAYLOR, Job Eliah (July 4, 1853-April 11, 1903) and
HATHAWAY, Margaret A. (Brown) {about 1853 to abt 1877} Maiden name Brown-
first husband Hathaway then married Taylor
were married in Douglas County, Lawrence, Kansas November 15, 1873.

Had one child my grandfather:
TAYLOR, Elmer (April 1875-May 9, 1953)
Elmer was born in Jefferson County. Margaret died with 2 years of his birth. I had exhausted the Jefferson County Cemetaries, thinking if Elmer was born in Jefferson county she died there. But maybe Margaret died in Douglas county as they are so close and she married in Douglas county. Any help would be appreciated, I have looked everywhere I can think of.

Query: I am interested in finding out information about Brasil Wright, who is listed on the 1865 Douglas County Kansas census with his wife and three sons. He and his wife "took in" my orphaned ggg grandmother Catherine (Kate) Shaffer and brought her with them from Lousiana to Douglas County, Kansas after her mother and step-father died in 1865, immediately following the end of the Civil War. I am hoping to trace information about Kate through the Wright family. She refers to them in a 1934 newspaper article as "family friends."
