RAYMOND posted by James Falkner on Tuesday, August 4, 1998

Looking for my great-grand father Jacques Raymond, who was a scout at Ft. Leavenworth during the close of the Indian Wars. He died from gun-shot wounds sustained on the trail during a battle with indians in the vicinity of Leavenworth. He may have been burried on the trail or returned to the Fort and burried in the National Cemetery. He was married to Marguerite (_) and they had a daughter Marguerite Raymond who was my grand-mother. The approx date of his death would have been sometime in the 1890's. Sketchy info, I know. Thanks. /Jim/

SMELSER, SMITH posted by Claudette Martin on Friday, August 21, 1998

I am searching for the death of my great grandfather, George Robert Smith, who resided in Leavenworth in 1891 and 1892. He was listed in the Hoyle's Leavenworth City Directory those years. In the year 1893 my great grandmother, Laura Smelser Smith, is listed as the widow of George. They had four children: Harry, Frank, Daisy, and Bessie. In 1900 Laura and the children are listed in the Platte County, Mo. census. Family gossip is that George Robert Smith was murdured during or after a poker game and died in the local hotel there in Leavenworth. Anyone with information please contact me. I will share info I have gathered on the Smith line and the Smelser family. Thank you
