THE LARNED EAGLE-OPTIC, 10 November 1899
Death of an Old Resident

Henry Hayden Shulse, the venerable father of City Marshal John Shulse, died at his home in West Pawnee last Saturday. Mr. Shulse was born in Nicholas county, Kentucky, March 15th, 1826. He removed to Pawnee county in 1878 and settled on a farm west of town, which place was his home up to the date of his death.

Mr. Shulse was a quite, industrious, honest man, and a good citizen. He leaves a son and daughter, John and Annie, to mourn his death. The funeral services were conducted at the home Saturday morning at ten o’clock by Rev. J. N. Thomas, of the Christian church. The remains were laid to rest in the Larned cemetery.
