Gottlieb Heinig Dead
Pioneer of Sedgwick County dies at home west of city.
Gottlieb Heinig, one of the pioneers of Sedgwick County, died at his home near Goddard, nine miles west of this city on Maple Street yesterday afternoon. He was 66 years of age and had been in very poor health for some time.
Mr. Heinig came to this country from Germany in 1870. He bought his farm in 1874 and has lived there ever since. He leaves seven children, five sons and two daughters. His wife has been dead for about 16 years.
His sons are Richard Heinig of Goddard; Prof. W. T. Heinig of Washington, PA; George O. Heinig, who is attending school at Washington, PA; and G. A. Heinig and Alfred T. Heinig who were living with their father on the farm. Prof. Heinig and George Heinig arrived home about three hours after their father died. His daughters are Mrs. Rosa M. Miller and Miss Anna Heinig.
The funeral services will be held from the residence Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock and Rev. Lawrence, pastor of the Presbyterian Church at Lawrence, Kans. will preach the funeral sermon. Interment will be made in the Goddard cemetery.
